Mountain Moral Monday, an event billed as a nonpartisan rally aimed at highlighting “destructive policies enacted by the N.C. General Assembly,” returns to downtown Asheville from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 24.
The event will be held at Pack Square Park in downtown Asheville and will feature Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, II, President of the state’s NAACP and grassroots leader of the Moral Monday Movement.
Three years ago, protesters began gathering at the N.C. General Assembly building in Raleigh to protest the actions of the Republican-led Legislatures. Hundreds of people have been arrested in a movement dubbed “Moral Monday.”
Asheville was the site of its first Mountain Moral Monday in 2013, and an estimated 10,000 people gathered. The following year, an estimated 3,000 to 4,000 people gathered in downtown.
This year’s event will focus on “laws passed by the current state legislature that reversed years of progress in education, health care, voting rights, women’s rights, racial justice and environmental protection,” according to a press release.
Here’s the Facebook announcement:

Hey Tim How is the election going for your buddies? Keep on writing because you are so instrumental in keeping Republicans in power. You did such a great job with Tim Moffitt! Between you and the other local Republican intellectual giant in the county, Chad Nesbitt, the GOP is going places. Keep on telling us how you believe in Trump and McCrory and their shared values. You are the perfect poster child for Republican Party.
Nice shout-out for Deborah Ross in the NYTimes this morning:

Dr. Barber is an American hero. It is sad that the idea of treating one another with dignity and respect, and being kind, is considered by some to be partisan. The right-wing hate mongers now talk highly of Dr. King, but when he was fighting for social justice, like Dr. Barber, their ilk hated and denigrated him. Same with Ali. People love to rewrite history.

That’s it. Never gonna click on your links again. Geez…
Hehe!
And there it is again: a welcome change of subject.
You brought up the topic of joy, Mr. Peck. I think Chris was just trying to illustrate it through representative facial expression.
Wow. Your dishonesty is borderline vulgar. Who is this thread is on-topic? I count one, the first one. No. This thread is about me. May it continue to be so.

Barry, this one is worth a look.
Illuminating. In what publication did this distinguished commentary appear?
Citizen Times. It was in response to a Boyle column on Trump’s “locker room talk” remark.
Got deleted the next day (by the moderators, I assume, but it’s possible Timmay deleted the whole subthread and started over, as is his wont). But I screencapped it for posterity.
OK, that one was worth looking at. Someone should tell Ms. Hall that this is just Tim’s way of admitting he’s lost the argument, poor little monkey.
Hey. Guess what the subject is today. You progressives have such a range.
Of course you’re the subject, Timmay! You make sure of it! Gotta get paid, dontcha? Shill.
Is this thread about me again? How delightful. You progressives always deliver the juice.
Wow, you showed up just in time. Have you been in a stupor for the last month?
No. You?
So you have no excuse for your dipsh*ttery.
I see. Carry on.
