Story rom the Macon News:

Moscow Ballet has a history of helping to raise millions of dollars for non-profits throughout the U.S. and Canada; this year they are helping Western North Carolina AIDS Project (WNCAP). Supporters who wish to help this organization in its fight against HIV, AIDS and the stigma related to the disease have the option of purchasing tickets at various price levels. Specific benefits to these donors include cocktail parties, meet and greets with dancers and special merchandise.

Moscow Ballet’s involvement with WNCAP and their development efforts will begin on Oct. 31, at the Raise Your Hand Auction. Moscow Ballet soloist, Nataliya Miroshnyk, will be in attendance at this annual fund-raising event. She will be available for photographs and autographs. A tutu donated by Moscow Ballet and a pair of Miroshnyk’s ballet slippers, used in performance, will be auctioned off amongst the many other valuable items.

With respect to this fundraising project, the performance at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium on Dec. 22, is a tribute to Rudolf Nureyev, the Russian dancer who is often cited as “the greatest male dancer of all time.” Preceding the performance, a special tribute will be offered to the great Russian dancer with original choreography by balletmaster Vladimir Troschenko.
