More on Asheville’s presidential beer, and President Obama’s dinner at the Corner Kitchen in Biltmore Village

The folks at Asheville Brewing Company have already sold out of the special, limited edition President’s Spring Break Ale they created in honor of President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama’s weekend visit to the small city along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Two bottles of the ale were included in a gift basket sent to the President and Mrs. Obama, according to brewery manager Aaron Penta. He also said that “someone” from the Secret Service picked up five more bottles to take back to the Grove Park Inn, the resort where the First Couple is staying. (The bottle label, above)

The Biltmore Village was formerly a classic planned community, at the entrance to the Biltmore House, said to be the largest privately owned home in America, with 250 rooms and 65 fireplaces. Owner Bill Cecil, Jr., and the Cecil family extended an invitation to the Obamas to visit, after they discovered the First Couple was going to vacation in Asheville. Cecil and other family members led the Obamas on a 45-minute tour before the dinner at Corner Kitchen; they did not know if the invitation had been accepted until today, according to the Citizen-Times. A downpour prohibited a tour of the vast gardens, which were originally designed by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted.
