More details on Asheville’s first homicide of 2009

Here’s the Asheville Police Department press release:

ASHEVILLE – At about 1:50pm today, Asheville police were dispatched to 72 Woodlawn Avenue in reference to a domestic fight. It was reported that a male and female were engaged in a fight and that the male had a knife and was attempting to stab the female.
As officers were responding, it was reported that the male had chased the female out of the residence at 72 Woodlawn Avenue and across the street to Young Street.
The suspect was arrested by responding officers as he walked from Young Street back toward 72 Woodlawn Avenue.
The victim was located in the front yard of 31 ½ West Chestnut Street suffering from apparent stab wounds. Emergency Medical Technicians checked the victim, finding her to be dead at the scene.
The suspect and victim were reported to be involved in a romantic relationship and had recently engaged in domestic arguments.
