Massive new Christmas light show on display at WNC Ag Center just south of Asheville

There’s a massive new Christmas light show on the grounds of the WNC Agricultural Center in Fletcher, just south of Asheville. I’ve heard from a couple of friends now that it is quite a sight to see. This is apparently the first year for Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland here. The outfit has four such shows in four states. It costs $20 to drive a car or minivan through, with some portion of proceeds benefitting charities.

Welcome to Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland! You may wonder, why go to such great lengths to create an attraction of this magnitude? It’s simple; we uncovered a passion and followed our dreams. After physically crafting each element, placing and bracing them, tediously programming hundreds of thousands of lights to perform with music, we managed to light up the nights!

There are over sixteen hundred individual and unique channels simultaneously directing this orchestra of lights. Using the most technologically advanced equipment in the industry, Christmas Wonderland magically expresses what Christmas means to us. Our hope is for this show to spark a smile on your face like it does ours.

Spreading Christmas cheer is our prime motivation and in doing so, we find great importance in giving back to our local community. This year our show locations are Asheville, NC, Sevierville, TN, New Market, MD, and Myrtle Beach, SC. Within those cities, Christmas Wonderland supports numerous charitable non-profit organizations. Please visit the “locations” tab to see our current partners at each location.

i hope it’s traditional Christmas music and not that awful wrap crap music targeting 16 year olds!

$20.00 did seem a lot to pay but when we began the drive I understood. This is well done and very impressive. We are just a family of three so if you have a big family, what a bargin! My 19 year old daughter’s favorite spot is what we called the tunnel. We pulled over to just watch how the music and lights were choreographed. We hope to go again before they leave. So glad to not have to drive to South Carolina to enjoy Christmas lights.

It’s $20 Awesome. We really enjoyed it. It was a Friday night and the traffic was a bit slow going through…but the wife, and the 3 year old thought it was cool.

Lies! This place IS cool. It IS a good time. My friends and I all had a lot of fun. Lighten up and enjoy the holiday season by visiting this attraction with friends or family. It’s actually a good time.

Annon December 3, 2013 - 8:24 am’s awful. Migraine and seizure inducing. Basically, most of it is simply wireframes of characters and colorful Christmas lights. Very cheesy and not wondrous or artistically done. The traffic is awful, the kids were bored (those over the age of 8) and I felt stuck in overstimulation + traffic for an hour. Not usually such a curmudgeon/grinch, but this was really un-fun overall.

It is indeed awesome, but… $20?!
