Lexington Avenue Brewery beer wins awards in US Open Beer Championship

Here’s the info:

Winners in the 2011 United States Open Beer Championships – the only brewery competition to include professional breweries and award-winning home brewers – were announced this week. More than 1200 beers in more than 50 different categories were submitted.

Geman Lager / Pilsener

GOLD – Neustadt Lager – Neustadt Brewing

SILVER – Summer Pils – Sprecher Brewing

BRONZE – Zatac – Žatecký Pivovar

BRONZE – Helmet Fire – Lexington Ave Brewery

 

Marzen / Oktoberfest

GOLD – Saranac Adirondack Lager – F.X. Matt Brewing Company

SILVER – Capital Fest – Captial Brewery

BRONZE – Numbskull Oktoberfest – Lexington Ave Brewery

 

Wood / Barrel aged beer

GOLD – Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale – Lexington Brewing

SILVER – Jai Alia White Oak IPA – Cigar Brewing

BRONZE – Humidor IPA – Cigar Brewing

agreed. LAB by far has the WORST beer in town compared to highland, pisgah, wedge, french broad, etc. maybe the other breweries just failed to enter the contest?

How on earth does this happen? I have yet to find anyone that doesn't think that LAB's beers are inferior to Pisgah, Green Man, and especially Wedge. Yet LAB has won some awards twice now?

They must be entering different beer in these competitions than what they serve there daily.
