Looks like a great Ladies of Letterpress Conference. Great panels. An Asheville print shop tour. A printer’s fair. Wow.
Here’s the update:
The Ladies of Letterpress invite you to a special screening of Proceed and Be Bold, a documentary film about letterpress printing and a self-proclaimed “Humble Negro Printer.” At 40 years of age, Amos Paul Kennedy Jr. abandoned the traditional American Dream to follow his own. Unsatisfied with his comfortable, middle-class life, Amos traded in his computer for a printing press and his white collar for a pair of overalls. Armed with life, liberty, peanuts, and a meager yearly income of $7,000, Amos cranked out a new, mutinous declaration of independence. The screening will be held at Asheville Community Theater, Saturday, August 4th at 5:30pm and is free and open to the public, with a suggested $5 donation.
Also a reminder that the Letterpress Printers Fair is also free and open to the public, and will be held at the Renaissance Asheville Hotel August 3-5, 9am-5pm each day.
The first note here from loyal reader Jessica:
Hi there,
I’m the co-founder and co-director of an international organization of letterpress printers, Ladies of Letterpress, and we’re gearing up for our 2nd conference here in Asheville this August. Our Printers Fair will be open to the public, and I was wondering if you could please help promote it by posting it on your site, and adding it to your events listing. Here’s a little blurb about it:
The Ladies of Letterpress invite you to visit the Letterpress Printers Fair, held in conjunction with this year’s Ladies of Letterpress Conference! Attendance to the fair is free and open to the public and will take place at the Renaissance Asheville Hotel on August 3-5, 2012, from 9am-5pm each day. Fair participants include some of the finest letterpress printers today from all across the United States, selling hand crafted paper goods. Also participating in the fair are sponsors of the conference, including paper companies and die manufacturers ready to show off the newest technologies in the paper and printing arts. To find out more about the conference and the fair, please visit www.letterpressconference.com.
Thanks!
