LAAF is set to return this year on Sept. 3. The Living Asheville Arts Festival is the new name for the old Lexington Avenue Arts and Fun Festival. The event was successfully rebranded last year by its parent organization, the nonprofit Arts 2 People.

Here’s the press release:

We are very excited to bring you the 15th annual: LAAF, Living Asheville Arts Festival which will be held from noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3 from in downtown Asheville along Lexington Avenue, from the corner of College Street down to the intersection at I-240; Walnut St. from Broadway to Rankin Ave; Hiawassee from Broadway to Rankin Ave.

EVENT DESCRIPTION:
LAAF is a yearly festival FOR locals BY locals. LAAF believes in Asheville’s transformational power of creative expression. This one day end of the summer festival hosted in downtown Asheville, is an alternative economic experience where hundreds of local artists through a wide range art installations, performances, artisan crafted goods, foods, beverages and interactive education.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
LAAF will continue to activate the core values of our organization by working with partners to hold workshops, discussion forums, and interactive activities that promote the social and environmental well being for Asheville’s arts community. The festival will expand from a general focus on the arts to embody and honor the ways Asheville utilizes creative expression to enhance the natural environment, provide social equity and support healthy lifestyles.

Performances from Asheville dance, theatre, buskers and more! Three stages packed with music from Asheville bands! Beer provided by local breweries!

We are taking submissions for performers, vendors and all participation!

I’m all about LAAFF (or even LAAF) returning, but I think they lost count somewhere along the way. It can’t be 15th because they missed several. It could be 15 since the first one. I’m thinking this would be approximately the 12th at most?

In any event, LAAFF is missed. I hope it’s as weird as it ever was!
