Jennifer Emert set to join WLOS as investigative reporter in Asheville

Jennifer Emert, a reporter for a CBS affiliate in Atlanta, is joining WLOS in Asheville as an investigative reporter. The Atlanta station, CBS/Channel 46 is the same station that former WLOSer Mike Mason just joined after leaving Asheville rather suddenly. Weird.

From atlantatvtalk.com:

UPDATE 06/01/2015: We found out today that Mike Mason’s replacement at WLOS-TV in Asheville is Jennifer Emert who he is replacing at CBS46. The stations essentially traded investigative reporters. CBS46 announced today that Mike Mason has joined the station as an Investigative Reporter.

Emert will join former Asheville Citizen-Times reporter Jon Ostendorff as a newbie WLOSer. Ostendorff, who left the newspaper after 16 years, just started filing his first TV reports last week.

Emert is a Pittsburgh native. Here’s more about her career:

Jennifer is new to Atlanta, but not Georgia. For the last two years she has been an investigative reporter with WIS the NBC affiliate in Columbia, SC, after spending seven years as a general assignments and investigative reporter at WIS’ sister station, WALB, in Albany, GA. She was hired at WIS as an investigative reporter and has been known for her job in digging deeper into the finances and curriculum changes at Sumter School District, investigating costs and issues associated with the Richland County election debacle in 2012, and discovered the underhanded side-effects of poor management at Columbia’s Dorn VA hospital, among many other investigative pieces.
