This is an Irish Dance Show…(like Riverdance, Lord of the Dance), choreographed by Heather Taft, based on the history and culture of Ireland as told through the poetry of William Yeats.  A live band, The Red Wellies, will be backing the entire show…

The Gallagher School of Irish Dance allows people to explore the rich traditions and culture of Irish dancing while experiencing fun and fitness. Irish dance is distinctive, combining artistry, grace, and physical ability. Rich in tradition, it dates back to the 3rd Century B.C. and the Druids. It has followed the Irish wherever they have traveled. And today is offered at The Asheville Arts Center where the instructor’s are learned in the traditional and modern techniques and styles of Irish Step Dance and Ceili.  The AAC offers classes at beginning, intermediate and advanced levels, and for those who have the desire, and the ability to really step up, there’s the Gallagher Irish Dance Performance Company. Irish dance is for everyone. Anyone who appreciates the beauty and intricacy of Irish dancing and music is welcome.
