The mother trying to keep custody of her severely overweight child has a new court date of Aug. 21 down in Polk County. The mother of Justin Painter, who is like 7 or 8, said her boy lost 40 pounds and is doing good after DSS stepped in, fearing for the boy’s health. The kid weighed 250 pounds at one point.

Somebody lit some tires on fire under the Smoky Park Bridge. Diva Darcel said that caused the bridge to “live up to its name” because there was (pause) a lot of smoke, like, under the bridge.
The old Ingles on Hendersonville Road was demolished on Tuesday. The new store has already been built behind the old one, which will be all but a memory within about a week.
