If Freeborn wants a recount, here’s how it would go down

Lots of folks who watched Tuesday’s Ashvegas City Council election are expecting Councilman Bryan Freeborn to call for a recount after losing his seat to newcomer Bill Russell by 84 votes. If he does, here’s how it will happen.

The Board of Elections will canvass the vote beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. It will take two to three hours to confirm the results, according to elections board Supervisor Trena Parker. That process will include examaning 94 provisional ballots.

Once elections officials certify the vote, Freeborn has until 5 p.m. the next business day to submit a written request asking for the recount. If he does so, the elections board would quickly schedule a recount.

Then the real fun begins. A recount means re-scanning every single ballot cast in the election. That’s a long process. Parker said the board last performed a recount in a state election in 2006, so they’ve got a good idea of how to handle it.

To use caps or not- I think it is a personal choice Twain. You do not abuse the all caps and your use of upper case and lower case conveys your message in a most rich, and colorful way while also giving clairity to just exactly how you feel on any given subject.:-)

the fix is in………kind of like certain elections …..i know many prefer the ‘e.e.cummings style’….and i suppose…..i must face life as an outcast…….oh well …….caps were fun…and….really… must we all conform? okay…….i’ll try to be more right-handed …and use more of my left brain …… yikes ……..

twain …..in itty bitty ….lower caseville ….not upset…just feeling…sooooooo limited ..as if ….i were a student in pink floyds….’the wall’. :-I

Good POST…and good reporting job Ash.

For any whining wannabee wonks or www wizards out there in the blogosphere …THE RIGHT TO ASK FOR A RECALL is just that …A RIGHT.

If I had lost by such a margin …I WOULD DEMAND IT ….and that is right …and is DEMOCRACY IN ACTION.

Twain …..shouting because it matters!
