Hotelier buys property on outskirts of downtown Asheville

A Greensboro-based company that owns and operates hotels has purchased a parcel of property at 39 Elm St. The location is next to the 51 Grill on Merrimon Avenue, and is known to many as the old location of a Steak and Ale restaurant. More recently, is was La Caterina Trattoria restaurant.

Asheville Property Inc. paid $600,000 to Asheville Habitat for Humanity for the lot on July 11, according to property records. Asheville Property Inc.’s registered agent is Jayesh Patel, 2011 Veasley Street, Greensboro, according to the N.C. Secretary of State.

A search on that address shows it is home to CN Hotels Inc. More:

It looks like the new hotel for this site will be a Fairfield Inn & Suites opening winter 2014 according to CN Hotels website. This information is listed on the Under Development tab.

FWIW, the photo from Google is somewhat dated, as the building that used to sit there was long ago demolished.
