Greenlife’s backside

We were watching Ashvegas City Council tonight on cable access, and listened in on the never-ending debate. One issue was parking, and we couldn’t tell for sure, but it sounded like council adopted some “parking action plan.” Which seems ridiculous, especially after council threw away countless hours and taxpayer dollars by abandoning the parking deck plan behind the Battery Park Apartments.

The other hot issue we heard was the Greenlife dock, which has been a bane to residents along Maxwell street at the back of the Merrimon Avenue-facing grocery store that’s crazy busy with customers. Big tractor-trailers make lots of noise and block traffic when they back up to the dock.

So a Greenlife spokesman showed council several options, including building an addition and/or a parking deck. One option would include knocking down a house and cutting down one or two big trees at the back of the lot to give those big trucks room to turn around. The Greenlife guy noted that the store wants to make changes that will help it continue to grow its business, which to us sounds like more traffic.
