So, yeah, ya know that the owners of The Altamont Theatre are quite familiar with what goes on in a Green Room at a theatre… and NOW they’re bringing the Altamont’s fans and fellow music lovers a social spot to hang out before and after show time…their very own Green Room!
We had our first staff orientation yesterday and we can tell you that we have a great team in place ready to serve Asheville and her visitors.
Our opening date is so close we can almost reach out and touch it. We can hardly wait!
The kitchen team is training and they are doing a fantastic job! So far the Smoked Turkey Breast and the BBQ Smoked Brisket are ready. Today should be our house made roast beef and smoked ham. We’re having fun working our way through the menu.

I ate there today. Really good food and the best fries/frites in town. Very reminiscent of the stellaer ones Cats-n-Dawgs used to serve.
I asked the people at Broadway Arts Building if they would rent that space to me about 10 years ago to reopen that theatre and the lady who answered the phone went off about how that space would never, ever be a theatre again! It was a crazy. That was a wonderful, community oriented space back then. Something this city still needs!
anyone remember the original Green Room in downtown Asheville? That was a fun dive performance hangout.
mary jane, i do. i won a poetry slam competition there once, back in the day.
i think it was called the Green Door.
