The last remaining buildings from historic “Old Candlertown”, this “city block” consists of 3 adjoined buildings constructed between 1936-1974. Each section is approx 650+sq ft, and has variously served as post office, general store, beauty salon, ice cream parlor, tv repair, chair factory, and more over the years. It has been my home, working art studio, and performance/exhibition space for 17yrs, and i am ready to pass it to new stewards in better shape than i found it. It sits directly adjacent to Upper Hominy Creek. A 300+sq ft deck, with both open and screened sections, plus a wood-fired sauna and outdoor shower, sits above the creek, and enjoys one of nature’s most beautiful sounds from a small rapid below. I have cultivated and maintained a small “linear park” along the 200+ft waterfront, which allows enjoyment of in-creek picnics and ample opportunity to cool off on a hot day. The small outdoor lot is maintained in a Japanese garden style, with bamboo, firepit, built-in grill, large hammock, creekside “two-top”, and 6x12ft reading/napping detached screened room.

That place is just AWESOME. There’s also a pulley-system dumbwaiter for snack & beverage service for when you want to put lawn chairs down in the creek on hot summer days.
