GQ Magazine notes Asheville’s style

The May issue of GQ magazine says North Carolina’s more than barbecue and NASCAR, and that little Asheville, N.C., is a great example of some big-city appeal. I haven’t seen the issue yet, but several people have commented to me on the full-page spread in the new issue that’s just hit stands. So far, I’ve heard that theOrange Peel, The Admiral, The Emerald Lounge and Curate all get mentions. 

The May issue of GQ magazine also has a couple of other interesting ties to Asheville. Comedian Zack Galifianakis is on the cover. The beardly one is from up around Wilkes County, North Carolina, and has visited Asheville. And there’s a hot photo spread of Jennifer Lawrence, the Oscar-nominated actress in last year’s Winter’s Bone who will be playing the lead in The Hunger Games, the movie that reportedly is preparing to film in Asheville and around North Carolina starting next month. She’ll be in a summer movie with Mel Gibson, as well as the new X-Men flick, X-Men: First Class.
