Google Fiber project announcement delayed

The much-anticipated Google Fiber Project announcement about what community or communities Google would choose for a high-speed fiber project has been delayed. From durhamnewsservice.com:

… we plan to announce that Google will be delaying the announcement of our selected community or communities. We had planned to announce by the end of this year, but the level of interest was incredible – nearly 1,100 communities across the country responded to our announcement – and exceeded our expectations.

We’re sorry for this delay, but we want to make sure we get this right. To be clear, we’re not re-opening our selection process, but simply need more time to decide than we had anticipated. Stay tuned for an announcement in early 2011.

Thank you again for your enthusiasm and interest in our project.

Alright Ash, it's time to call out the Schools or whoever is in charge of closing or posting 2 hour delays

Both yesterday and today it was above Freezing by 6:00am, yet we have 2 hour delays. I'm thinking whoever posts these does not think of the economic impact these things have with 10% unemployment. Do you think employers want employees that are late because of these delays or closings? I really don't think the school systems are thinking this way and are being way to overly safe about calling schools and probably costing good moms and dads jobs.

Just My opinion

Google just hired this guy, Milo Medin, so I'm sure he wants some time to settle in before making the big reveal.
