Gawker: In newspaper ad, Billy Graham urges people to ‘vote for biblical values’

Share

Gawker has the story of Rev. Billy Graham’s full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal:

As you were reading your paper edition of the Wall Street Journal today, you may have noticed the GIANT ad toward the front of the Marketplace section, in which Billy Graham tells you how to vote in the upcoming election. …

Billy Graham has made it pretty clear how he feels about gay marriage and abortion. He’s also made it very clear he’s near the end of his life. So none of this is new information.

Thanks to White Lightnin’ for the heads-up.

Dear Billy Graham, STFU

Seems like a really strange place to take out an ad like that, if your actual goal is to influence the votes of the people reading the ad in its original location. WSJ readers are already going to lean significantly towards the Republican party, but even the most conservative WSJ readers probably aren’t going to be influenced by the endorsement of a decrepit evangelist. These are not low information voters, as a general rule. You’d think he would get a lot more traction in a place like USA Today or the New York Post . . . .

It’s not Billy Graham. This is Franklin Graham exploiting his elderly father’s name to further his own agenda. Franklin’s continuing trotting out his father to prop him up for a photo op to promote the divisive causes Franklin promotes is beyond shameful.

So he is urging people to vote for a Mormon?? Don’t Mormons believe that Jesus was married to multiple wives among other things? So that’s okay, but gay marriage is not? Talk about cherry-picking. I used to have respect for Billy Graham, but this election season has really been an eye-opener.
