On my street, the Enmark still has gast for $2.65, while the Hot Spot next door is up to $2.74. How about you?
Story from the Winston-Salem Journal:
Gas prices are rising at the pump because of a weak dollar and chilly weather, analysts said Friday.
“Every year there’s a slight bump just with the refineries changing over to produce heating oil, but that’s usually the October and November time frame,” said Brendan Byrnes, a spokesman for AAA Carolinas. “It generally doesn’t continue into January like we’re seeing.”
In the Triad, the average price of regular, unleaded gas was $2.66 Friday, up 3 cents from Thursday and 10 cents from the previous week, according to AAA Carolinas. A year ago, regular gasoline was $1.67 a gallon.
In North Carolina, the average price of regular gasoline was $2.69 a gallon Friday, compared with $2.67 Thursday and $2.60 the previous week. The highest state average in 2009 was $2.65 on June 21.
Local prices still are lower than the national average price of regular gasoline, which was $2.73 Friday. In fact, the Triad has some of the cheapest gas in North Carolina. The average price in the Asheville, Charlotte and Fayetteville areas was $2.70 a gallon Friday.
