Garden & Gun: Ed Helms releases bluegrass ode to Asheville with ‘Asheville City Skyline’

Garden & Gun today premiered a new video by Ed Helms and his band, The Lonesome Trio. The record, which will be released later this month, features the single Asheville City Skyline, an ode to the city.

“This song is really a story about what I wanted the experience to be,” Helms tells Garden & Gun, “a little bit of a fantasy. What’s the opposite of going down memory lane? Projection lane? But it wasn’t that far off. And the best part of it was Asheville has no discernible skyline.”

Helms is perhaps best known as a comic actor in The Office and The Hangover. But he’s also obviously spent significant time in Asheville. (He was spotted in Asheville back in 2013.) Check out the tune.

Not bad

If the hotel builders have anything to do with it, the town will have a discernible skyline… a generic, bland one.

He’ll need to do some more work if he thinks he can crack the acoustic music scene in this town.
