Erika Franzi blogs that Asheville Citizen-Times Publisher Randy Hammer cancelled their meeting today. Franzi wanted to talk about her allegations of ethics violations on the part of reporter Leslie Boyd.
Franzi apparently wanted to videotape the meeting, a stipulation Hammer couldn’t agree to. Hammer says that would violate state law because they’d be talking about a personnel matter. Franzi disagrees:
The matter at hand is an ethics issue concerning not only a single reporter at the Asheville Citizen-Times, but also the upper management, including Mr. Hammer. It is an issue of the paper’s management allowing an “objective” straight-news reporter to become deeply involved in political activism yet continue to report on the very topic on which she demonstrates.
Franzi says she’s continuing an e-mail discussion with Hammer. Boyd says she plans to have an “announcement” next week.
