The N.C. Office of the State Auditor recently recommended disciplinary action be taken in response to dealing with the case of an employee of the N.C. High School Athletic Association who was on the payroll of Chatham County Schools.

The auditor makes several suggestions, including that action be taken to discipline Robert Logan, Chatham County  Schools superintendent and the former super for Asheville City  Schools. The Chatham Journal has the full story, including responses from Chatham Schools, which said it never meant to mislead anyone, and the NCHSSA.

A snippet from The Chatham Journal :

Pursuant to North Carolina General Statute §147-64.6(c)(16), the state auditor completed an investigation of allegations concerning the discovery of an employee of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, Inc. on the payroll of Chatham County Schools. The investigation found that the North Carolina High School Athletic Association and Chatham County Schools intentially misrepresented the employment of the Associate Commissioner to increase his retirement benefits.

The audit’s findings have been turned over to the State Bureau of Investigation and Chatham County District Attorney Jim Woodall to determine whether criminal charges are warranted.
