Filmmaker to screen Appalachian Trail documentary ‘The Long Trail’ Saturday

Share

Here’s the great note from loyal reader Chris, who is encouraging folks to come out and see his documentary about the Appalachian Trail called The Long Journey:

We’re showing our AT documentary in town this Saturday (at the Asheville Community Theatre, details below). This will be the last public screening in these parts before the film comes out on DVD later this summer. If you’d like to share this with your audience we’d surely appreciate it, and in thanks for your help covering events in the past I’d like to offer you a ticket to the event Saturday night if you think you might like to attend. Let me know about that, and I’ll put you down for a will-call ticket or two.

Thanks much, Jason. Here are the details:

Coincidentally, Scott Jurek is currently attempting to break the Appalachian Trail speed record. For those not familiar with Jurek, he is a 7 time winner of the Western States 100 mile run, two-time Badwater 135 Mile Ultramarathon champion, New York Times Best Selling author of “Eat & Run,” and was named as Runner’s World Top 8 “Greatest Runners of All-Time.”

Jurek is a vegan, and one would hope that his success and the triumph of other vegan athletes will put to rest the tired, antiquated view that people need animal protein in order to thrive.
