Award-winning violinist/fiddlerJulian Pinelli will celebrate the release of his debut recording titled Bent Creek on Thursday (May30) at Isis Music Hall. Go here for tickets.

Pinelli spent his childhood surrounded by iconic acoustic musicians in Asheville, including fiddler Bobby Hicks. A recent graduate of Berklee College of Music, Pinelli was honored with the 2016 Fletcher Bright Award and Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival’s 2015 Bill Vernon Memorial Scholarship.

Bent Creek is a culmination Julian’s formative years at the prestigious music school. He also spent on the road with cellist Ben Sollee and progressive bluegrass band Front Country.

Joined by a stellar band of peers, Pinelli recorded Bent Creek, a recording of six original fiddle tunes and two covers of traditional songs, in Boston in June 2018. The group is comprised of award-winning instrumentalists: Tristan Scroggins (mandolin); Matthew Davis (banjo); Sam Leslie (guitar); and Dan Klingsberg (bass).

The recording was engineered by Dan Cardinal at Dimension Sound Studios. The group was coached by Aoife O’Donovan of I’m With Her and Crooked Still.

With deep roots in bluegrass, the ensemble features thoughtfully crafted compositions wrought with groove and virtuosic improvisation. Check out Pinelli’s concert.
