Erin McKeown Performs at North Carolina Stage Company on September 8.
North Carolina Stage Company presents acclaimed singer Erin McKeown Wednesday September 8th at 7:30pm. The theatre’s intimate downtown venue holds 125 including standing-room tickets. Tickets are $15, and available through NC Stage.
The concert at NCSC is part of a tour commemorating the 10th anniversary of McKeown’s 2000 album Distillation, which was well received for its combination of folk, bluegrass, and jazz. McKeown will perform all of Distillation in sequence before performing a set drawing from old and new work. McKeown’s most recent album, Hundreds of Lions, is the result of experimental production techniques, having tried it all then whittled away what didn’t work. The result is a record that’s lush but focused, that soars and dips, with lyrics that dismantle the elegance and danger of desire.
