Lowe’s Foods in south Asheville is closing

Look for 25 percent off everything in the store.

Lowe’s Foods plans to close on Dec. 15, but may run out of merchandise before then. The grocery was open less than six months.

Lowe’s Foods replaced the Harris Teeter on Hendersonville Road, and drew attention when it fired a local employee over choosing to keep the dyed pink hair color she had when she was hired.

According to WLOS, a company spokesman said that the store did not perform well and the company decided not to renew its lease. Lowe’s Foods employs more than 50 workers.

Directions to Lowe’s Foods at 1378 Hendersonville Road at Biltmore Parkway Centre.

Publix hasn’t shown any desire to open stores in NC; the ones that serve the Charlotte market are south of the state line, and there’s the small matter of the Ingles behemoth in WNC.

Luther, that’s not what Publix is saying publicly. From the Charlotte Observer:

Publix said it plans to expand further in the state. Company executives said Publix will open a Charlotte division, with a divisional vice president and a leadership team based in the city, to oversee the expansion.

Here’s the link.

It’d be great if Publix came in and took over the building.

Just to be clear, I was fired simply for HAVING pink hair, after I was already hired with it. It was only after I publicly called them on it that the HR guy said I could come back with my hair a different color, and that was only after his attempts to lie his way out of it failed.
