FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
REVOLVING DOOR AT 197 HILLIARD AVENUE
Craggie Brewing Company regrets to announce that after three years it will be closing its doors December 1st.
This small, handcrafted brewery, known for unique beers like Antebellum Ale, Burning Barrel Porter, and Yo La Mango IPA, strived to prosper in the face of limited funds, but ultimately could not reach profitability. Craggie is proud of its staff and customers and wants to thank them for their loyalty through the highs and the lows of its operations.
Although Craggie will be closing, the facility at 197 Hilliard Avenue will still be in use.
Negotiations are currently being made for a new brewery to take over the space and begin its own brewing journey. It will be retaining two of Craggie’s own employees and is wished the best of luck in its endeavors.
###
Craggie’s head brewer DJ McCready defected to Oskar Blues last month.
Craggie is located at 197 Hilliard Avenue in downtown Asheville.

I really hope they keep the mural on the building – it’s a nice piece complimenting some local history.
i’d hope for catawba or nantahala… can’t say i’ll miss craggie.
Anyone know what is going on in the building adjacent to Craggie? The work is slow, but improvements are being made to the building.
My money is on the guess that Catawba Valley will occupy it. They have been scouring town for an AVL outpost of their Morganton-based operation. Someone buy me a Firewater when they open if I am right.
I really hope you are right–Firewater is my favorite WNC beer and it is only available in a few spots downtown and rarely on draft anywhere desirable…
