Ashvegas is hereby starting a petition to get Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan on the ballot for this year’s Asheville City Council race. Corgan for Council is what we’ll call it. Corgan would make a much better councilman than any of the ones up for re-election now: Brownie Newman, Bryan Freeborn and Jan Davis. Why? Because what better person to represent weird Asheville than an alt rock star? He’s a poet, an artist, a dude who likes Carmel’s.
Voice your support here, and we’ll send it on to the good folks at the Orange Peel so they can get it to Billy. Then we’ll go from there. Billy and the band are in town until at least Thursday, so we’ve got a little time. But not much. So let’s get this thing rolling!
