The final day of operation for the Cinebarre at Biltmore Square will be Sunday, July 20.
Cinebarre wants to thank New England Development and Tremont Realty Capital. We applaud them for their vision to build a tremendous new shopping destination. While continued operation of our cinema eatery is not feasible during construction, we are excited for this new development. Many of our patrons have also expressed enthusiasm for how the former Biltmore Square Mall is being re-born into a thriving new development.
CINEBARRE’S FUTURE IN ASHEVILLE
We are in talks with the landlord to see if the completed new design of Asheville Outlets might someday include a new cinema eatery. Those talks are only in preliminary stages at this point.
The background: A company called New England Development is currently in the process of gutting the former Biltmore Square Mall and remaking into a new outdoor outlet mall called Asheville Outlets. Background on Asheville Outlets here.

Is Cinebarre dead, or is there any chance of it reopening? I see nothing in any of the releases about the mall opening.

It looks like the space is still there (670). It would be a great place for husbands to kill some time while wives shop. That or someone should open a brewery outlet!
If the news is true about a new multiplex being attached to the Asheville Mall, I predict that the Cinebarre will not return. Not because there is anything wrong with Cinebarre (I would not know, I never got around to trying it) but because there will be a glut of screens in Asheville and I suspect a theatre attached to a shopping mall will succeed better than one next to an outlet mall.

Such a terrible thing, good place, cheap costs and another victim of this terrible economy. I don’t think this “strip mall” thing is gonna work out there in Biltimore.
It probably can’t do any worse than the Mall was doing. It was half-empty most of the time.
Hope it can continue on. Always had a good time there.
The food was overpriced and less than average but at least it was clean, the seats worked, floors weren’t sticky, the sound curtains didn’t have asbestos, I didn’t have to walk through a plumage of smoke, they put their movies info in fandango and served coke products vs RC

Cinebarre stays busy. It would be nice if they re-open or relocate to a space nearby.
Disappointing great late night hang. Hope something similar comes along.
I never heard of a company so excited to be closing. Who sent this press release out anyway? Reads as if New England development and/or Tremont Realty Capital had their hands on this…
The final paragraph of their announcement indicates they’re in the preliminary stages of discussing if they can be a part of the outlet mall. I suppose it would hurt their chances if they started bad mouthing the project.
How many people were employed at Cinebarre?
25, they were all offered jobs at other cinebarrys.

The C-T story talks of around 25 employees who’ve been offered jobs at other Cinebarre locations.
It would be nice to see them come back. They managed the transition to a second-run theatre well, and it’s a good location, away from the first-run multiplexes and the Brew and View on Merrimon.
