Chelsea Clinton will campaign for her mom, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, in Asheville on Wednesday, according to reports.
Chelsea Clinton will take part in a Clean Energy Roundtable event at The Collider space in downtown Asheville. Doors open at 3:15 and the event is scheduled to start at 3:50 p.m. The event will include community and business leaders who plan to talk about Hillary Clinton’s “plan for building an economy that works for everyone – not just those at the top – which includes making the United States the clean energy superpower of the 21st Century,” according to the event website.
Chelsea Clinton also campaigned for her mother in Asheville during Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid in 2008, when Clinton battled Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination. Chelsea attended morning services at Central United Methodist Church in downtown, then answered questions about her mom’s positions during an appearance at the former Cinebarre theater at Biltmore Square Mall, which is now Asheville Outlets. That year, Hillary Clinton spoke at Thomas Wolfe auditorium and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, spoke at Asheville High School.
Clinton’s Republican foe, Donald Trump, campaigned at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville a couple of weeks ago, and his vice presidential running mate, Mike Pence, spoke at a private event over the weekend, according to media reports. Tim Kaine, Clinton’s vice presidential running mate, spoke in Asheville several weeks back, then hit the South Slope for some barbecue, beer and music.
