If you haven’t been by the WNC Nature Center yet to see the Beauty of Butterflies exhibit, you need to go. A screen enclosure, perhaps 30 yards long and 15 feet wide stands chock full of butterlies, moths and butterfly friendly plants and flowers. There are so many butterlies inside that you can hear their wings beating. Just stand and watch, or have your hand sprayed with a little sugar water in hopes of having a Monarch or a swallowtail make a personal visit. Almost as much fun is watching the the little kids wonder at the colorful insects.
The nature center says it will have dozens of different species, all native to our area, and literally hundreds of butterflies in the enclosure. This is the fourth year the nature center has brought in the exhibit, which they said attracts 30,000 visitors over the course of the summer.
When we visited, the place was slammed, so be prepared. But check it out. The exhibit’s here through Sept. 3.

Cost is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and $3 for children 3 to 16.
