BREAKING: Avett Brothers to play New Year’s Eve shows at Asheville Civic Center

Share

Sam Powers, who works on economic development for the city of Asheville, told a Leadership Asheville forum this afternoon that the Avett Brothers will play the Asheville Civic Center on Dec. 30 and 31. Powers was attending a luncheon to talk about the 2012 arrival of the Southern Conference basketball tournament to Asheville and the Civic Center.

The Avetts played the Civic Center on New Year’s Eve last year, and played a three-night stand at the Orange Peel the year before. They clearly love Asheville.

Rock!

I pray the civic center respects the Avett Brothers fans much more than they did last year. Everything about the setup was disappointing and frustrating to navigate through. I have been to a TON of Avett Brothers shows and I have never seen such a poorly organized venue. For being such a great city, whoever ran the Civic Center last NYE did not live up to the city's outstanding reputation. Please post if you have had a similar experience and maybe our voices will be heard. But TAB of course put on a wonderful and unforgetable performance.

Did you hear the Fret Knot interview with Scott Avett? He talks about how he considers Asheville as much his home as his own hometown, and reminisced about playing Be Here Now back in the day. I wanted to hug him. Over the internet.
