well, happy belated birthday, ash! i didn’t realize that was you!

about the sofas … way back then, when you rented a furnished apartment (no money for our OWN furniture), the two color choices were avocado green or harvest gold. (which explains why we shudder at those colors as they’re used today.)

your parents obviously chose harvest gold, just as we did. this was the pop ’60’s so prints were big, bold, and bright!

re the sunglasses, the same goes as with the furnished apartments … we were too young and too poor to have suitable props around that could ‘add to’ the picture of the kid. sunglasses were handy, so sunglasses had to do! plus, mom and dad got a good laugh out of it (still do!).

sunglasses were one prop and dad’s finger was another. we snapped lots of pics of baby sucking on dad’s finger as dad put it near baby’s mouth.

what can i say? we were young, broke, but able to amuse ourselves without spending any money. pampers had just been invented and took all our cash!

happy birthday, my fellow virgo!

p.s. i’m not implying you are as old as my son … those sofas were in style during the 70’s and 80’s. too!

Happy Birthday Son.

The sunglasses thing is just paying forward what Gandma did to me! Yup, I got the photo to prove it.

The sofa? I can’t explain it either. I have looked back at some god awful stuff that passed for chic at the time and wondered… what were they thinking.

Happy Birthday, Ash!!!

May you spend the day naked and screaming, just like you did the first!

Thanks for the birthday shoutouts y’all! Makes my day.

Weaverville woman, what is it about putting shades on babies? And what was up with those ’60s sofas???

this picture brought back many memories for me! possibly because i have the exact picture of my baby taken back in the late ’60’s.

different child, different sofa, but the same, nonetheless.
