- We ran into Chris, the owner of the Garage at Biltmore the other night, and he gave us an update on his new music spot. The venue, on Fairview Road behind French Broad Brewing’s location off Sweeten Creek, made a splash earlier this summer when it hosted a CD release party for Stephanie’s Id. The local band had gotten the boot from the Orange Peel because of the Smashing Pumpkins’ residency.
That early opening wasn’t official. But at the end of this month, Chris will open for real. And he’ll kick it off in fun fashion by hosting Larry Keel. We can’t wait, and we wish the Garage all the best.
- We’re starting to get excited about seeing the Avett Brothers, who will be back in North Carolina on Sept. 15 over in Greensboro. The owner of a bar in town called the Green Bean solicited fan photos and is putting up a show generated by fan submissions. It’s looking really cool.
- There’s a new store opening up on Haywood Road for local homebrewers. It’s called Hops and Vines and will be located just a few doors down from the Westville.
