Parkway 75th Anniversary Celebration: A series of opening weekend events planned for November 12-14, 2009 will set the stage for a year of commemoration, community celebrations, and consideration of the future of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Events include:

  • Presentation on Natural Resource Stewardship (11/12/09) – Cherokee, NC
  • Torch Passing Ceremony (11/13/09) – near Cherokee, NC
  • Guided Tour of the Southern End of the Blue Ridge Parkway (11/13/09) – starting in Cherokee, NC
  • Parkway History Day at the Folk Art Center (11/14/09) – Asheville, NC
  • Blue Ridge Parkway 75th Anniversary Benefit Concert starring Nanci Griffith, Doyle Lawson, Sammy Shelor, the Warriors of AniKituwha, and more, hosted by David Holt (11/14/09) – Asheville, NC
