Biscuit Head owners to open second location on Biltmore Avenue in Asheville

Jason Roy and Carolyn Roy, owners of the uber-popular Biscuit Head on Haywood Road in West Asheville, are planning to open a second location in the former Tomato Jam Cafe space on Biltmore Avenue. Jason Roy confirmed the news Tuesday. The new restaurant should be open in June or July, Roy said. Tomato Jam, at 379 Biltmore Ave., closed late last year.

Roy said he’s not looking to reinvent the wheel, but rather keep a good thing going. Since opening last year, Biscuit Head has been slammed with hungry customers clamoring for the restaurant’s giant, fluffy biscuits with toppings like fried chicken and catfish. And, of course, the Gravy of the Day (GOD).

Roy also said he has a personal connection to the Tomato Jam Cafe location. It was a restaurant he ate at during one of his first visits to Asheville, and he said he loved the owner at the time – a real personality – and the BLT she served him.

OMG!! It’s a chain now! Boo, Snark, Hiss!

And just for the record, the biscuits made without hydrogenated shortening are the ones that taste like shit.

Gotta debate you on this one…
My man makes the best biscuits on the planet and we only use real butter!

Fair enough, I was just being “snarky”, when we make biscuits at the house we make 7Up biscuits- flour/sour cream/butter/7Up.

Can biscuits be made without hydrogenated shortening? Doubt it. Poison then.
