Bike of the Irish photo: Blue Ridge Bike Plan

An annual event from Asheville on Bikes, Bike of the Irish lets Asheville people wear green, bike around town, and then drink beer. Goofy costumes also turn up.

The ride can take a different route each year. Wearing green, highlighting connectivity, and a local pub stop are constants, according to AoB.

Here’s this year’s schedule:

1 p.m.-Gather at City Hall
1:30 p.m.-Ride
3:30 p.m.-Culminates at Wedge Brewery

AoB is looking for people to assist with the ride. In return for your volunteerism, AoB will treat you to a pint of Wedge beer following the ride.

The “Pedal Patrol’s” main duties are:
to ensure that intersections crossings are safe
to provide route direction for participants
to assist w/ minor mechanicals along the ride
to communicate w/ ride leader in the event of mishap.

Email pedalpatrol@ashevilleonbikes.com if you’d like to patrol in 2013.
