Here’s the note from loyal reader Denny. It sounds like a great time:

On August 28th the Barnardsville Big Ivy Mountain Music Festival will feature national, regional, and local performers highlighting the historic music of the mountains of North Carolina and Appalachia. One of the important groups appearing will be the Freeman family – Arvil, Carmon, and Vono –who have had a major impact on NC mountain music for decades. Headlining the program are Darrell Webb, Buncombe Turnpike, High Windy Band, Paul’s Creek Band, and Laura Boosinger. George and Brooke Buckner, along with cloggers Loretta Freeman and Lindsey Rice, will provide a strong professional Big Ivy flavor.

The Festival, an historic offering of traditional mountain music suited for many tastes, is MC’d by Mr. Mark Bumgardner, an expert in local lore, and mountain and traditional Appalachian music. Supporting traditional events of this kind being offered within our community helps keep mountain music alive and well. Join us at the Big Ivy Mountain Music Festival August 28tth from noon until 8:00 p.m. for fun, food, crafts, and lively entertainment.
