Avett Brothers to play Halloween and Nov. 1 at U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville

AC Entertainment has announced that The Avett Brothers will play two back-to-back shows at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville on Halloween, Oct. 31, and again on Nov. 1. Over the past several years, that has been the weekend occupied by a previous iteration of Moogfest and, last year, Mountain Oasis – both events promoted by AC Entertainment.

The Avett Brothers have a strong connection to Asheville. The band’s record “The Carpenter” was nominated for a Grammy in 2012 and was recorded at Echo Mountain Studios.

in 2010, the Avetts played two shows at the Asheville Civic Center. They played a New Year’s Eve show at the Civic Center in 2009, and they played a three-night stand at The Orange Peel in 2008.

The Avett Brothers are working on their ninth studio album, which is expected to be released in 2015. From Paste magazine:

The band has been brainstorming and compiling since January with the hopes of starting the recording process in November. And it’s no surprise that the album will be produced by legendary producer Rick Rubin. Rubin, who first worked with The Avett Brothers on their celebrated 2009 LP I and Love and You, has been behind the band’s last three albums.

“I feel like we’re in kind of the perfect place as far as working with someone we feel comfortable with but who also challenges us and we challenge each other,” Avett explains.

They even plan to record alongside Rubin in California, something they haven’t done since I and Love and You.
