UPDATED by Jennifer 3:37 p.m.: Turns out the violation was pretty dinky: Something about the signage painted on the side of the trolley, which doesn’t jive with its license somehow. The state trooper very nicely let the bus driver off with a warning. No harm and no foul, and Dale’s Pale Ale tastes even better on a bus, if you ask me.

Authorities this morning pulled over an Oskar Blues trolley full of beer-drinking folks on their way from Asheville to Brevard for the opening of Oskar Blues’ new brewery there. It was apparently a N.C. motor carrier enforcement officer who pulled the trolley over.
The story played out on Twitter. Tony Kiss, the Asheville Citizen-Times reporter (aka The Beer Guy) was on the bus and tweeted:
The Oskar Blues shuttle headed to the Brevard brewery just got pulled over by the law in I 26!
Oskar Blues shuttle is rolling again. Big cheers on the bus.
Jen Saylor aka Blog Asheville and Ashvegas collaborator, tweeted:
Given a warning for minor issue with tag. Back on the road to Brevard!
And the guys from Wicked Weed Brewing, a new craft brewery set to open soon on Biltmore Avenue in Asheville, tweeted a couple of photos:
Just got pulled over by the cops on the @oskarblues bus. Everyone hide ur beer! pic.twitter.com/j4VKcdyj

Oskar Blues this afternoon invited the media and friends and family down to its new brewery to celebrate the first batch of Dale’s Pale Ale being made there. Oskar Blues will hold its official grand opening on New Year’s Eve with a big party there.
Welcome to the neighborhood.

The state trooper is actually a friend from my Andrews days.
awesome!
Sounds like a publicity stunt to me.
Whatever works, I guess…
I have a customer who is a pretty high up in the APD. He said they already looked into the Beer Trolly, and it is totally legal. He is actually excited to see it on the streets of Asheville!
Kelly, yes, as far as I know, the beer trolley is legal. sounds like there was a license tag problem.
Oops. WLOS missed THIS part of the story.
