-The Big Crafty: The Big Crafty, the ever-popular celebration of local indy artists and craftspeople, returns to Pack Square Park this Sunday. Get out and support our local artists!

-Cheap Joe’s: The Boone-based art supply shop has plans to open in Asheville, according to a recent post on the Bring Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff to Asheville page on FB:

Where do you shop to feed your creativity? Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff, Inc., the legendary purveyor of fine arts materials, announces the debut of a new retail art supply store opening in Asheville, North Carolina. We will be located in Asheville’s lively center of art, artists, galleries, studios, music and great food: the River Arts District.

-The Local Barber and Tap: The Local Barber and Tap is planning to open at 84 Walnut St. in downtown Asheville. The space is kind of a basement space near the corner of Walnut and Haywood Street. The location was last home to an art gallery.

 

-Fall LEAF line-up: LEAF has announced its fall music line-up. The line-up is a celebration of New Orleans, and it’s a doozy. Here’s a quick look:

“The Local Barber and Tap”? Barbershop and bar seems like a terrible combination to me. Hair would get into everything, and you can’t move your head to take a drink while you’re getting a haircut anyway. What’s the point?

It’s a proven model in lots of other cities. Also, Blue Ribbon on Haywood Rd. has been around for quite awhile now.

Sort of like how at high-end spas you might get a glass of wine.
