Listen to This returns to The Orange Peel for another summer installment of the successful spoken-word series, according to a press release. Here’s more:

The long days of summer just give many of us more time to talk about our dogs. And talk and talk and talk. Cats may own the internet but dogs still dominate the animal anecdote arena. From how they came into our lives, to the trouble they always seem to find, to the things they eat that they shouldn’t, to how hard it is to say goodbye. Listen to This, now in its ninth season, celebrates man and woman’s best friend by featuring stories by some of Asheville’s best tellers of tales and singers of songs. Stories by Jim Julien, Grayson Morris, Betsy Puckett, and Sarah Spooner. Also a song and video short from Rod Murphy and a pupcentric PSA appeal from the mind of Mondy Carter. Hosted by Tom Chalmers. Plus a performance that promises to unite the polarized pet community, music from Jeff Santaiago & Los Gatos Negros. Thursday, July 21st at 7:30 PM at The Orange Peel, 101 Biltmore Ave, Asheville, NC 28801. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 day of show. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Brother Wolf.Animal Rescue. For tickets, go to theorangepeel.net, call (828) 398-1837, or visit The Orange Peel box office. Go on, get those tickets. get ’em. That’s a good buyer.
