-Nepal relief: Chai Pani restaurant is donating 10 percent of sales today to Nepal relief. Details:
A call to action…
Travelers the world over (and many of us here at Chai Pani) have been embraced by the majestic mountains and gentle people of Nepal. Today Nepal is suffering and they need our help. Let’s come together in solidarity with Nepal and send them some much needed support. The Indian army has named its aid effort in Nepal ‘Operation Maitri’ or friendship. On this Tuesday April 28th, Chai Pani will sponsor ‘Operation Maitri’, collecting the profit from the day’s sales in Asheville and Atlanta and we’ll donate it to globalgiving.org in the name of ‘Operation Maitri’ to help fund the rescue and aid operations needed now. We invite the service industry worldwide to participate. Please join us, lets all do our part to help.

-Colburn Earth Science Museum fundraiser: Here are the details, from loyal reader Jon:
Spring is in the air and that means it’s time for the Colburn Earth Science Museum’s annual Under the Stars party. This year guests will truly be under the stars at one of the coolest outdoor venues in the area, The Boathouse Riverside Pavilion in the River Arts District. Last year’s Under the Stars party was organized by the Asheville Affiliates and was so successful The Colburn is establishing the fundraiser as an annual event.
Under the Stars will be held on Thursday, May 21st from 6-10 pm. Attendees will enjoy the sounds of live music by Red Dirt Revelators, while savoring food from top area restaurants and beer from both Catawba Brewing Company and one of Asheville’s newest breweries, Bhramari Brewhouse. There will also be a silent auction with items from local businesses that will raise funds for the museum.
The Colburn has begun an exciting transition to a general science museum. There are plans to move to a more visible and accessible location in the heart of downtown Asheville at the Callen Center. This event will be the first opportunity for the public to be involved with gathering support and raising funds for the capital campaign and to support The Colburn’s science education programming.
Tickets for the event are $25 in advance, $30 at the door and include beer, wine, food, and entertainment. Advance tickets are available for purchase either by visiting the Colburn Earth Science Museum in person, or by purchasing online at:
