Ashvegas Hot Sheet: Favilla’s moving, Rendezvous opening soon, more

Here’s more of what’s going around, with a focus on local restaurants:

-Favilla’s pizza joint has announced that it is temporarily closing after May 12 for a couple of months as it moves out of it’s location on Patton Avenue and into a new spot. The new location will be within 5 miles of the current location (near the intersection of Patton Ave and Leicester Highway), but they haven’t announced the new location yet.

-RendezVous, the new restaurant by Chef Michel Baudouin of the ever-popular Bouchon restaurant in downtown, should be opening any day now. Baudouin bought a church and the surrounding 1.5 acres at 184 New Haw Creek Road for his new eatery, which will mirror Bouchon.

-Cultura, the new upscale restaurant at the Wicked Weed Funkatorium on Coxe Avenue, opened last week. Have you checked it out yet?

-Clean Eatz, a restaurant chain that offers healthy meals and meal plans, is opening at 1950 Hendersonville Road in south Asheville. They’ll be holding a grand opening party on Friday (May 10.)

-Futo Buta ramen shop is starting its renovation of the former Bartaco space on Biltmore Avenue in downtown.

-Work to create the new Itto Ramen Bar & Tappas on Haywood Road in West Asheville (in the former Lucky Otter space) is moving right along. They’ve got their new sign up and all.

-Popeyes is planning to build one of its fast-food chicken eateries in the 400 block of Airport Road in south Asheville.

-Renovation work is continuing on the location of the new Riverside Rhapsody Beer Co. in Woodfin. Follow them @riversiderhapsody.

-Auntie Anne’s and Cinnabon have opened at the Asheville Regional Airport, the first new concessions to open in several years at the growing airport.

-There’s not much happening lately at Continental Lounge restaurant on Biltmore Avenue. Anyone have an update on what was to be Chef Vijay Shastri’s big return to Asheville?

-Renovation work has begun on the old Doc Chey’s location on Biltmore Avenue for the new Shanghai Dumpling House.

Left two msgs for Continental – one on FB and one on Insta two weeks ago. No response. The inside of the building is a total disaster and looks to have been abandoned. No signs of “renovation” whatsoever. I’d say that place is not coming back. Four total months of operation has got to be a record.
