-Second trampoline park: Word on the street is that there is a second trampoline park coming to South Asheville; Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park is coming to Hendersonville road. I recently noted that Launch trampoline park was in the works for South Asheville.
-Open Space AVL: Here’s a correction on a tidbit from last week – Open Space AVL is the name of a new co-working an meeting space in the former Wee Wiggles day care space on Haywood Road in East/West Asheville. The space is still being renovated and developed in terms of what spaces to provide and how best to offer them.
-Asheville Food Park: There’s a sign up at the Amboy Road location of the new Asheville Food Park that says that location is now leasing spaces to vendors. Go to ashevillefoodpark.com for deets.
-WNC Culinary Expo: The Asheville Independent Restaurant Association’s WNC Culinary Expo is being held today, and the annual expo has a top-notch keynote speaker Kevin Boehm. Boehm is co-owner of the Boka Restaurant Group. More:
After opening 16 successful restaurants over two decades, James Beard nominated restaurateur Kevin Boehm has become one of the nation’s most successful owner/operators. Kevin, along with partner Rob Katz, have not only built a successful restaurant group, but have established a restaurant culture built on great chefs, inspired hospitality, and amazing design.

-Highland Brewing party: Highland Brewing will celebrate its 21st birthday with a big bash on April 11. Here’s more:
Expect the birthday requisites – cake, balloons, streamers, a photo booth – and a bold new beer. Scotty’s birthday Double IPA (Scotty is Highland’s mascot) hails from the pilot room and will be available on draft only at the brewery. The high-gravity West Coast DIPA is Head Brewer Hollie Stephenson’s creation, expected to clock in at an aggressive 10% ABV (alcohol by volume), she says, “this beer is a hop bomb—we wanted to do a big beer for this big birthday celebration.” IPA fans will love this highly hopped, very aromatic, and full-bodied beer. It will be offered alongside several other small batch brews all day.

Long way from happening down there! Its about 4 years to early! May be wrong but time will tell. Dean is always been trying to get a slice of the pie.
Love the idea of a food park, not sure of the location but maybe that’s the point. Time will tell. If all goes well, it could be pretty cool.
more Trampoline parks, worst idea ever. Let’s see how long they stay open before getting their dumb a$$es sued, putting a few more kids in wheelchairs for life
It’s not like a trampoline in your back yard. These places take all sorts of precautions to keep the kids safe. Why don’t we just wrap all the fooking kids in bubbles, keep them from riding bicycles, swimming, playing sports, driving cars, or anything else that might be fun? We’ll just raise a complete generation of progressive pussies.
How would being overprotective result in the child being a ‘progressive’?
By all means, let’s continue the pussification of America’s youth.
Food truck park on Amboy Road – what’s the addy?
Location, location, location – and I’m not so sure this is a good location…
time will tell.
They’re fixing up that ugly 2 story building at the corner of Amboy & State St. It’s across from the Citgo and has a large cell phone tower on the property. I’m glad to see something go in that spot. It’s across the street from Carrier Park.
I’d be very concerned regarding that location. There’s not a lot of foot traffic through that area, from tourists or locals looking for lunch during their breaks.
Is there something I’m missing about this spot?
Is it connected to the new outdoor center currently under construction?
My guess is they’re going off the increasing popularity of the river, the park, the greenway. Maybe it’s a viable location on Saturday and Sunday, but I wouldn’t expect much else. There is a housing complex and other homes just north of Amboy that could use good food nearby.
Not connected.
Across from Carrier Park, and “not a lot of foot traffic”?
Seriously?
Will the walkers and joggers stop for a bite to eat?
Hell, I would.
We live a few blocks up the hill from there and we walk by there all the time. There is a huge neighborhood there with no other eateries within a short walking distance. Us & the neighbors I’ve chatted with think it’s going to be great.
You’re not missing anything. Dumb location. One season and out is my guess.
murphy, it is located at the corner of Amboy Road and State Street, across State Street from the convenience store there.
