UNC Asheville’s National Environmental Modeling and Analysis Center (NEMAC) and Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI), in partnership with RiverLink and the Swannanoa Flood Risk Management Project, are co-sponsoring a free bus tour of the Biltmore area – including Lake Craig, the Biltmore Avenue Bridge, and a walking tour of Biltmore Village, one of the areas affected by the 2004 floods – at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 7. The tour will include presentations, maps, and information regarding potential flood mitigation projects at sites that were affected by the 2004 floods.
Each participant will receive a self-guided Flood Tour book covering the entire watershed, as well as maps and information about the potential flood mitigation projects in the Swannanoa Valley Watershed. The three-hour tour will depart from RiverLink, 170 Lyman Street in Asheville. At the conclusion of the tour, organizers will seek comments and suggestions from participants.
