-Word on the street: The former S&W building has been sold. Florida-based investors bought the building back in January 2011 for just under $2 million. The building is an iconic example of Asheville’s Art Deco-period architecture and was home to the cafeteria, which closed in 1974.
-Building permits show that a business called Ellington Underground in the works at 56 Patton Avenue, which is the S&W Cafeteria building; maybe a bar or music venue?
-Plans are moving ahead to add two stories to the building on South French Broad Avenue that’s home to the Grail Moviehouse, Hopey & Co. grocery store, Little Bee Thai restaurant and other businesses.
–Asheville Zine Fest is set for May 7 at the Refinery Creator Space on Coxe Avenue.
-The Flea for Y’all kicks off at 8 a.m. on Sunday in a parking lot next to the Field and Stream Store at Asheville Outlets.
-North Star Bakery is in the works at 1570 Patton Ave. The owner is Jenny Kommit, who formerly owned and operated Stovetrotters restaurant on Sweeten Creek Road.
-What’s happening with Bouchon restaurant’s Haw Creek location? I haven’t heard any updates.
-Babyfish Two LLC sold 2 Gerber Road, the location of Gerber Village, to Gerber Mills LLC for $16.3 million.
-The A N Christiansen Living Trust sold 1095 Patton Ave. to Ingles Markets Inc. for $525,000. That address, which is adjacent to the Ingles grocery store at the corner of Patton and Leicester Highway, is the location of Favilla’s pizza joint, Misha’s tailoring shop and one other shop.
-English Oak Green LLC sold 352 Airport Road to Ingles Markets Inc. for $2 million.
-Aestette Holdings LLC sold 6 College St. to Moon Mountain Investments LLC for $590,000. That location is the new home of Pepper Palace downtown.
