Here’s the note from loyal reader Sheila of Asheville School:
Hello!
Asheville School is a small boarding school in West Asheville. We are currently on Spring Break – but the seniors are on a trip in D.C. We asked the students and faculty to blog about their trip. Perhaps it will be of interest to you and your sweet blog. 🙂 – ashevillefaculty.wordpress.com
Thanks!

And here’s a tidbit from the blog, written by Kathryn Muller of Candler:
We then left in the pouring rain for the National Cathedral. As we entered the sixth largest cathedral in the world, we couldn’t help but stare at the ceiling and secret tunnels in awe. During the mass, we heard hymns sung by the choir, most of whom attend or attended the Saint Albans School. We later learned that there is a ten second delay due to the echo from the massive arched ceilings, which accounts for why it was so difficult to follow along with the music. We walked through the church with Mr. Vance Wilson, a former Asheville School faculty member, who is now Head of St. Albans, and learned about the history of the cathedral’s structure and the people who helped fund the project. After we left the cathedral, we headed to the school next door to read the Constitution in creepy white classrooms. Then we ate in the dining hall that faintly resembles Hogwarts. After putting away our dishes we listened to Dr. Samples talk about the legislative branch and how our generation is doomed with our 70 trillion dollars of debt awaiting us. His speech concluded the day and we headed back in the torrential rain back to our cosy little home for the week.
