Asheville Scene: Sante to add lunch, has new owner

As we reported back in November,  Sante Wine Bar in the Grove Arcade sought a new owner. Former owner Carla Baden found a buyer in C. Allan Morse, a Sante fan and regular who plans to add a light lunch menu in springtime and beef out the evening menu of dips and bites.

From Mackensy Lunsford and Asheville Scene:

Morse, a regular at Sante for nearly six years, purchased the wine bar from former owner Carla Baden late last month. A full-time engineer, Morse jokes that he now owns his own personal Cheers and a nice retirement plan, too. And for now, things at the wine bar are running much the same as before.

But change is in the forecast.

When the weather warms, Sante’s patio will open and Morse will debut a new lunch menu, created by Sante manager Adrienne Hinson. Hinson, who trained at the Culinary Institute of America, aims to include paninis and cold sandwiches, seasonal salads and quiche. “It’s going to be light lunch fare, but a little more substantial that our cheese boards,” Morse said. The evening menu will also expand to include dinner items a bit heftier than the dips and bites the wine bar has served in the past.

Sante’s sweet patio deserves lunch service. Looking forward to checking it out, C. Allan.
